At the crossroads, a pile of broken water-rich rock marked the road west; the north road bore a sign marked ‘To New Askja.’ Those who could read went north. You journeyed west. West across the volcanic desert, past other grēners who already marked their claims with names like Lamia, Usha’s Hole and Lunar Landing. Your claim, illegally named after your lost love, proved barren. Without money, without food, without friends, without love, taking a job meant a chance at another claim and wealth and maybe love.

The job: Deliver a skinner to Oasis, the city of exile. An exile’s fresh start means your fresh start. To help you along your journey, someone in exile hired a mercenary, a scientist, a gambler, a frontiersman, a forgotten marshal and a native. Each of you have something to gain and something to lose. You’ll journey to Oasis together, apart or alone, and deliver the skinner or be consumed by the desert.

A Game for Game Chef 2010
Theme: Journey
Using: Skin, Desert, City

I played How to Host a Dungeon last month and found it to be a nice game to try once or twice. It was a bit fiddly, and I had to make up a few rules and guess at how to play in a few places. I was using the free download, so the for sale version may be different. I don’t know. If you’re going to play this, I’d recommend using a different color bead for each monster group and to use stackable counters. I wish I would have had around 10 different colors.

I shot a picture after every move and combined them together into a little time lapse movie using Startrails. Enjoy.

Every player whose character is in the scene tweets, at least, once.

Name how ultimate goal can be met.

Each player gets one tweet to resolve.

If person who suggested the game likes one, it is named as winner.

Else, play moves into new scene set by player selected by the game suggester.

This person will have a chance to set final scene next time selected to set scene.
