When you and your parents arrived on the distant planet of Niraxus Prime, you had high hopes for a better life. But as new colonists, you quickly learned that you were not welcomed by the descendants of the original settlers. They called themselves the Originalists, and they made it clear that you and your family were not one of them.

One day, a malfunction on the mag-train system caused you to be late for school. While the Originalist children were not disciplined, you were separated from your family and sent to a private school for “problem children.” The school’s mission was to teach discipline and obedience through hard work and labor.

Once at the school as part of your studies, you are required to work in the fields every day, harvesting the planet’s primary food source, the Eclipsebulb. These plants grow in abundance on Niraxus, but their cultivation is tedious and labor-intensive because they only grow when the sun is eclipsed and can’t be harvested due to the poisonous gas they give off during an eclipse.

Each day, you must pick 100 pounds of Eclipsebulbs, a task made even more difficult by the intense heat under the uneclipsed sun.

At the school, you met other new colonists who had also been incarcerated for minor reasons.

To play this game:

  1. Each player creates a character and names them.
  2. Each player states the minor offense that landed their character in the school.
  3. The objective of the game is to collect 100 pounds of Eclipsebulb each day within a 16-hour period.
  4. During each hour of each day, players roll dice to determine how many pounds of Eclipsebulb their character collects. The following dice are used for each hour:
    • Hour 1: roll a d100
    • Hour 2: roll a d20
    • Hour 3: roll a d10
    • Hour 4: roll a d8
    • Hour 5: roll a d6
    • Hour 6: roll a d4
    • Hour 7-16: flip a coin (heads equals 1 pound, tails equals 2 pounds)
  5. After each hour, characters take a five-minute break.
    • During this break, players must state what their character is thinking about the school, the Originalists, and the task of collecting Eclipsebulb.
    • They also roll a d20. On a 1-8, they pass out from heat exhaustion and can’t play the next hour.
  6. If a player’s character successfully collects 100 pounds of Eclipsebulb for 10 consecutive days, they are sent back home to their family.
  7. The game continues until one player’s character is sent home.
